2008: The 25th anniversary of the Discworld series!
Colour Of Magic Production/Filming
- Production began July 23, 2007.
- Because of the huge success of Terry Pratchett’s Hogfather, The Colour Of Magic¬†received a bigger budget, which allowed an even a more amazing visualization of the Discworld.
- The main filming took place at London’s Pinewood Studios.
- The Mob Film Company invited fans to be extras in the Colour of Magic, saying, “We know there are some wonderful Discworld costumes out there.”
- Twoflower’s arrival at the Ankh-Morpork docks was filmed at the Gloucester Docks. The ship Twoflower arrives on is the Matthew, a replica of John Cabot’s ship on his 1496 voyage to Newfoundland, in real-life. See the¬†Colour Of Magic images page¬†for pictures of the filming.
- The only replica of the Luggage used in producing the Colour Of Magic film was sold in a charity auction on eBay to support the Alzheimer’s Research Trust. It was filled with the complete set of Discworld books, signed by Terry Pratchett, and the new film tie-in edition of The Colour Of Magic, signed by some of the actors in the movie. The auction closed on March 24, 2008, at the price of ¬£3,667.42.
