With The Colour of Magic premiering in little more than a week on March 3 in London, it’s little wonder Sky One has begun airing TV spots for the adaptation. Fans have kindly made the video available on YouTube.¬† Here is a transcript for your perusal:
Rincewind: The colour of magic!
Twoflower: It’s–it’s sort of … um ….
Rincewind: Pink.
On Screen Lettering: From the makers of Hogfather.
The Arch-Astronomer: And green.
Rincewind: It’s a little bit yellow.
Cohen the Barbarian: Silvery.
Herrena: Gred. (?)
The Librarian: Oooooooook. (Caption says “Orange.”)
Bethan: I think it’s gray.
Trymon [ominous]: It’s very, very gray.
Death: A little darker.

good god the librarian sounds and looks so bad!!!! gah!!!! i hate it. the rest are great but seriously they shoulda used cgi, an actual orangutang or a better costume cause that is just terrible. his voice is atrocious too.
Agreed. And what a horrible shade of red.
Also I’m _really_ hoping that Sean Astin’s lines in the tv spot aren’t lines from the movie, but something he said in an interview. And he just happened to be in costume.
But on the plus side: Tim Curry as Trymon is teh win.
They probably didn’t have the budget for a real orangutan. Man, even death’s mouth didn’t move when he spoke. He looks more like the skeleton of a monkey than a human too. Not all that ominous. And all the pictures we’ve seen up til now have just been faces, not much else… On the plus side though, the scene with Cohen was pretty funny.
oops yeah i should say my good points too. yeah i do like the look of tim curry and cohen….that’s it really… david jason’s ok, sean astin kinda poor but whatever and the libarian terible and i take your point on the budget but i think they coulda done well better than that.
They actually made a conscious decision to not make Death’s mouth move. Previous exeperience with talking skeletons was that it always looked even worse with moving mouths.
What happened? The jaw fall off?
I agree that the Librarian didn’t look right at all, but his voice grinded on my nerves so badly. The ook was just the wrong tone and voice quality.
